Richard Garcia was born in Corpus Christi Texas, November 5th, 1945. Raised in Lubbock Texas by his mother Elenor and his father Raul Garcia with his brother Loy and sisters Virginia and Pattricia. It was in Lubbock where he met his wife, Esperanza and started a family. While working odd jobs he taught himself electronics and repaired televisions with his dad, Raul Garcia. He also landed a job in the optical field, which would later become his full time career, while still repairing televisions with his dad. After surviving a devastating tornado in Lubbock, Richard made the decision to move his family north to Michigan. Relying on his knowledge of electronics and optics, he could support his family consisting of his loving wife Esperanza and his three sons Raul, Philip and Erik. After a short stay in Detroit Michigan he moved his family to the suburb of Oak Park, Michigan where he would live comfortably for the rest of his life, working optics during the day and repairing televisions at night and on weekends.

Richard loved listening to music and going to concerts. He was a huge fan of blues music and loud guitar and had season tickets to pine knob music theater. He loved all music, he never listened to just one style of music. His house always had music in the background or quite often at the forefront of any situation happening at the time. He loved an ice cold beer by a roaring fire, he loved to have a good time all the time. He loved his wifes home cooked meals and would be stingy with the possibility of his wife sharing any of her recipes. He loved watching television and going to the movie theater, Clint Eastwood was his favorite actor and was a fan of any old cowboy movie. He loved comedy and his laughter would fill the room. He always made time to take his family to seasonal events, strawberry picking and firework shows in the summer, apple picking in the fall, attending the thanksgiving day parade in Detroit and going for drives during christmas to enjoy the lights with his family. He loved spending time with his family and his many grandchildren doing anything or nothing at all.

He loved his family with all his heart. He will be missed.
