I’m so sorry to hear this news. Mary and I became friends when she was the secretary at Taft when my girls attended (1990-2001). She was so kind, PATIENT!, and funny. Deepest condolences to her family. Cherish your memories and know she will be watching over you all.

There will be a Sharing of Memories visitation at Spaulding and Curtin Funeral Home in Ferndale, on Saturday, October 3, from 2:00pm - 6:00pm. The Family will be speaking at 4:30pm.

Service:
Mary Ann McLellan was born on December 20, 1940, in Ferndale, Michigan. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family.
Mary began her career in the Ferndale School District in the early 1970s as a lunch mom at her girl's school. She went on to serve as a librarian aide and office aide before becoming a school secretary in 1987. She dedicated many years to the students, families, and staff of the Ferndale School District and community until her retirement in 2006.
Those who knew Mary knew that she was always ready for an adventure. She always had her bags packed and was ready to go anywhere. If you didn't move fast enough, you could count on Mary getting to the front seat and calling, "Shotgun!" She loved traveling with her family and was always excited to see where the next adventure would take them.
One of her favorite places was up north in Harrisville, where she treasured the peace, quiet, and serenity. Whether traveling somewhere new or simply spending time together, Mary was happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends.
But above all else, Mary loved her family. Being with them was what mattered most to her, and she created countless memories that will be cherished for generations.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Patricia ”Patti” Skop, Kelly McLellan, Marcie Dryden (Neil), and Amy McLellan; grandchildren, Jeffrey "JP" Skop (Sara) and Jessie Lauka (Jake); and great-grandchildren, Cade Skop, Myles Skop, and Brooks Lauka.
Mary will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of travel, her quick wit and most of all, the love she had for her family. Her greatest legacy is the family she cherished and the many memories she created with them.
Emotions are running high with the Loss of such a Kind Soul❣️ So many memories of her kicking Ass in Phase 10 and collecting quarters… No Venmo Please. or giving that devilish smile when she’s ready for another Pina Colada with extra cherries. Forever in our Hearts.
I remember her. My three boys attended Taft, Sam, Adam and Chad Vestevich. She was like part of the brick work there.
You were one of the best Meadowdale moms. Thank you for loving me as your own❤️. Tons of childhood memories i will cherish. Love you mama Mary.
Mary was the heartbeat of Taft Elementary. She was always a positive force and spread kindness and humor along the way. My sincere condolences to her whole family!
